How to Clean and Maintain Step Nosing

When the family is renovating, after the general renovation work is done, the next step is to renovate the stairs. So, what is the step nosing and how is it installed? In the future, how should the step nosing be cleaned and maintained?

Specific cleaning method for step nosing

  • Before each cleaning, clean the cleaning tools, such as mop, long-handled brush, scraper, water suction machine, floor polishing machine, etc., to ensure that the cleaning tools are clean and avoid secondary pollution of the floor during cleaning.

  • The floor that has been treated with anti-slip should be cleaned frequently. Regularly (e.g. kitchen should be cleaned every day), use alkaline cleaning solution or porcelain-specific alkaline detergent and water or warm water diluted to a concentration of 1:7-10 (the preparation ratio can be reduced for heavy oil pollution), evenly sprinkle or use a long-handled brush or floor polishing machine to scrub the floor.

  • Rinse with clean water, and then dry with a clean mop or scraper or water suction machine.

  • The mop should be kept clean during normal use. Use a plastic box to fill half of it with water, add laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid. After removing the mop cloth, soak it in the water for about 20 minutes, then take it out, rinse it with clean water, and let it dry before using it. If the floor is greasy, regular cleaning is required, and the anti-slip effect of the step nosing will remain the same. In this way, the anti-slip effect will immediately appear and maintain a long-lasting and better anti-slip effect.

Installation of step nosing

The stair plane and vertical surface should be 90 degrees. Clean the stair steps first, and apply universal glue on the front edge of the stairs and the back of the step nosing. After it is slightly dry, bond them together, then use a rubber hammer to tap the bonding area. Or drill holes in the aluminum alloy base, fix the step nosing on the stair surface with screws, and then insert the rubber strip on the surface.

For materials such as marble and ceramic tiles that are not easy to drill holes, it is recommended to use universal glue for fixing, and for other materials, self-tapping screws and expansion tubes are recommended. For example, fix the two ends of the corner with a dedicated corner metal clip to prevent the no slip stair edge nosing from shrinking and falling off while achieving a high-level aesthetic effect.

When installing the step nosing, it is not necessary to cover the entire step. After the step nosing is installed, pay attention to how to clean and maintain it. Hope this is helpful to everyone.
