Materials and Construction Methods for Production of Tactile Paving Bricks

Blind brick is a road facility that provides convenience for blind people's safety. Generally speaking, there are three types of bricks laid. One is the strip direction guide brick, which guides blind people to walk safely, called blind guide brick or blind direction guide brick; the other is the tip brick with dots, which indicates obstacles in front of blind people. The construction method of the blind brick tactile strip


  • The blind brick laying should be continuously designed to avoid obstacles such as trees, pole, wire, tree holes, manhole covers, etc. Other facilities should not occupy the blind path;

  • The turning point should be equipped with walking blind bricks, and its length should be greater than the width of the walking blind path;

  • At bus stops, blind paths should be set along sidewalks and dividing strips, with a width of 300 to 600mm and a distance of 250 to 5000mm from the curb;

  • Steps, ramps, and obstacles on sidewalks should be set with tactile strips between 250-600mm;

  • 250-600mm from pedestrian crosswalk entrances, square entrances and other locations should be set with tactile strips, and its length should correspond to the width of each entrance;

  • Between 250-6000mm from tree holes on the inner side of the sidewalk, walking blind paths can be set; if there are no tree holes on the road, the distance between walking blind paths and the curb should not be less than 5000mm.
